Cheryl Landes – fellows
For exceptional service as an innovative usability designer and researcher who has contributed to the STC Body of Knowledge; for promoting technical communication by sharing best practices in website design; and for involvement in the community and allied professional organizations.
Since Cheryl Landes became a technical communicator in 1991, she has supported the profession in a variety of ways. She frequently speaks at STC chapter meetings and conferences. She also mentors indexers and technical communicators. Cheryl is passionate about writing clear, concise technical documentation and advocating quality standards. In all of her regular, full-time positions, she established corporate standards for documentation. At Microsoft, the guidelines she developed for indexing clip art in 1996 are still in use. She also supports learning for technical communicators by sponsoring conferences and workshops that will develop their skills and make them more marketable.
