Nathaniel Lim – Associate Fellow
For engaging STC members and nonmembers to become more involved in STC and its educational offerings while simultaneously exhibiting exemplary performance in your own career as a technical communication professional.
Nathaniel Lim has worked in technical communication for over 20 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical industry. He has designed and developed innovative case report forms and workbooks for use in clinical trials. He currently works as a senior technical writer for Elekta, where he writes end user documentation for oncology and pathology software. He is also a guest lecturer on forms development at UC Santa Cruz Extension.
He earned an AS in physics and mathematics from the College of San Mateo, a BA in organizational studies from UC Davis, and a certificate of achievement in technical communication from De Anza College.
At STC, Nathaniel has been a technical publications competition judge at local, international, and Best of Show levels. He is an advocate for first-time attendees at the Summit orientation, where a conference chair calls his presentation “contagious.” He served on the STC Summit Program Advisory Committee, published numerous articles in Intercom and STC chapter newsletters, been a Top 50 contributor to STC Forum, and made presentations on business forms design and alternative writing careers. He also serves on the STC Nominating Committee.
Nathaniel sees technical communication as not just a job or profession but a passion; it shows in the wide-ranging work he does both in and out of STC. He has won technical writing and newsletter awards. His outside interests include service to his church and leadership development in Boy Scouts of America. Nathaniel is an Eagle Scout, honored with Order of the Arrow, and currently trains Scout leaders.
