Interactive Intelligent Style Guides

Free

A style guide to follow when writing structured content is not useful if it not automated, it may become an issue rather than a helpful tool. You should automate as many rules as possible to allow writers to be notified when they break a rule. You also need to focus on enabling the information architects to control this automation process, to easily create and tune the rules to match the project needs. You can do all these things with an intelligent style guide that can embed automatic checks, easily created by information architects to enforce the actual style guide prose. I will present an example of such a style guide, based on open standards such as DITA and Schematron, with many interesting examples of automated rules.

Join the conversation and explore with us as we look at the trends in technical communication that support and facilitate augmented and virtual reality applications.

From Business Writing to Consulting Copy

Free

Have you ever received a handout at the beginning (or end) of a presentation and felt like tossing it in the trash can on your way out of the room? Do you simply print the default notes pages or slide thumbnails from PowerPoint’s print menu, and pass those out as your handouts? Do you create separate files for your presentation, handout, and speaker’s notes? In this webinar, will learn how to customize the Notes Master in PowerPoint to create more interesting and useful handouts, as well as your own speaker’s notes that are different from the handouts, all contained within the same PowerPoint file. If you are not using PowerPoint, you can still use the concepts learned in this portion of the webinar.
