The Importance of Analysis
Being technical communicators who are also content management professionals, we recognized the importance of following the advice we give our own clients, which is not to fall into the trap of choosing a tool first. We each used the methodology laid out by Ann Rockley in Managing Enterprise Content—pared down for a project of this size, and adapted for a web project—so that we would end up with the results we wanted. While each of us ended up with a slightly different outcome, based on the needs of our local community, it wasn’t surprising that so much of our needs overlapped.
