Blog Feedback Time!

Well, slowly but surely we’re taking off the training wheels here at STC’s Notebook. Over the past few weeks we’ve unveiled what I think are some pretty interesting new features that will provide a lot of information and be of a lot of interest. We’ve done the first of many posts from STC President Cindy Currie and STC Executive Director Susan Burton, in addition to musings from Board of Director members; shined a Spotlight on chapters, SIGs, and CVP members; given some further insight into Intercom articles through author Q&As; and presented some weekly links of interest. Personally, I think I’ve done a heck of a job!

But I’m also cognizant that what I think doesn’t really matter as much as what the audience thinks. I can like chocolate covered orange gels as much as I want, but if I serve them at a party to folks who don’t like citrus, well, I’m a horrible host in addition to all my other quirks.

So … what do you think? Are there certain features you like more than others? Things you find useful? Useless? Used up? What excites you, what bores you, what intrigues you? (And please limit that to blog-related comments, thanks.) Are the Spotlights entertaining? The Board blogs insightful? The Links of Interest interesting?

And further, are there things that you’d like to see added? I’ll give you the basics of two things in the works. First, I’ll be starting a “Community Chest” irregular feature that will highlight things that some of our communities have found successful in order to share them with the communities as a whole. The first example comes from a previous Links of Interest, where I linked to the “Ask Me About My Chapter” and “About My SIG” buttons. The goal is for communities to help each other by sharing ideas.  We’ll also be starting a weekly trivia contest soon that will lead to an overall winner and a pretty cool prize. But are there other things you’d like to see? Fill me in!

I welcome any and all thoughts, both positive and negative. Those of you who have been paying close attention to STC’s Notebook might have noticed that we took the “beta” tag off the header (in addition to putting a few new links up there). That’s not to say I’m done learning or done improving. That will be a constant process.

So please, email me with your comments, give me a phone call to talk, or add a comment below so other people can see it and perhaps spitball off it. Or, if you have the money, I’ll be in lovely Blacksburg, VA, this weekend for a Virginia Tech football game; put up a scoreboard notice just for me. However you want to get your thoughts to me, I welcome them all. Thanks.
