Geoffrey Hart presented a pair of articles in the September/October and November Intercoms on the art of “Statecraft.” The first article, “Statecraft: Applying the Science of Politics to Office Politics,” led to a look at, “When Statecraft Fails: Tips on Surviving the Great Game.” Both are available to read (or reread) at the Intercom site for September/October and November (don’t forget that you must be logged in to view the PDFs).
Together, the articles not only describe ways you can use office politics to build trust, rapport, and collaboration at the workplace, but also show you how to combat coworkers who attempt to undermine those goals and avoid the office “rats.”
Do you have any questions about one or both articles? Ask away! We’ve gotten some good dialogue going in these Intercom Q&A sessions with our readers, and Geoffrey is the latest author to volunteer his time.
Here’s how it works: Email me your questions for Geoffrey by Monday morning, 23 November. I’ll forward them to him and he’ll send me his answers, which I’ll post Wednesday afternoon, 25 November. Then going forward, we’ll have a new Q&A on another Intercom article every other Wednesday. So if you have any questions send them my way, and we’ll present the responses next week!
