The final web seminar for June has been posted to the STC website. Last week we sent out an email with the June schedule that included a TBA on Wednesday, 23 June; that TBA is now “Promoting Your Career through Social Media,” presented by Rich Maggiani. The description:
Whether you are an employee or an independent, the rules for promoting your career now include using social media. Learn how you can use LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook to promote yourself and find work.
This session discusses how to make yourself more visible using LinkedIn by writing a LinkedIn profile, getting connections, soliciting those connections (your network), creating links, joining and using groups, and employing other promotional methods; as well as how to find jobs and contracts. The Twitter portion discusses how to manage and increase your followers and friends, and how to plan and send updates by devising tweets and retweets that your followers find valuable (so they can be viewed by your purposeful audience: potential employers and prospects). The Facebook section discusses how to construct a professional page so that your audience can get a more complete picture of who you are.
As a result of attending this session, you will better know how to use social media tools to promote yourself and connect to an audience of prospects and employers.
