At this year’s Summit we introduced a sort of “Vendor Bingo” in the exhibit hall, where attendees could get the vendors to initial their Expo Bingo Card and enter a drawing to win a free iPad. Our thanks to everyone who participated! The vendors loved the idea and loved the game, and said they enjoyed talking to everyone who came around.
Our winner asked not to be identified (we suspect she doesn’t want her friends and neighbors to treat her differently after her huge windfall), but she was gracious enough to answer a few questions, below.
First, congratulations! How long did you spend in the Expo visiting the exhibitors?
Over several days, I probably spent 2-3 hours talking with exhibitors.
Were there any exhibitors that really stood out to you?
Yes, there were quite a few. AuthorIt, Adobe, and Writing Assistance to name a few.
How about the conference overall? How did you enjoy it?
It was great! I left the STC conference feeling energized, motivated, and excited about the possibilities for future growth in my career, developing better technical publications, and also knowing I had made some valuable contacts.
What was your favorite part of the conference?
I appreciated the variety of training sessions offered but my favorite part of the conference is always the networking. I learn so much from informal conversations with other people in this industry. I enjoy hearing about the different types of technical communication jobs out there, learning from others’ experiences on the job, and sharing the “woes” that are common to our career. Sometimes you even learn new options for solving those woes!
Any big plans for the iPad?
It’s going to be fun to figure out how many ways I can use it! It’s really a cool technology and I’m thrilled to have won it!
