From the Hart: An Update on My STC

Posted on behalf of STC President Hillary Hart.

I want to update you on the status of the projected launch of the My STC portion of STC’s website. The staff are finishing up the controlled testing now, and plan to open the site to community leaders (SIG managers, chapter presidents, and community webmasters) next week via a special URL. (Community leaders, you’ll receive an email soon with details.) These leaders are being invited first into the site for a 48-hour period before the membership at large will have access. This will allow community leaders to set up admin rights in their communities as well as to test the site for functionality, ease of use, accuracy, etc. Chip Boyd, STC’s webmaster, will be available via a live virtual chat session when the site is first opened to community leaders so he can guide leaders through the first visit to the site and answer questions.

I hope many community leaders will take this opportunity to use the site and provide us with feedback. We’ll then consider the feedback and open the site to all a couple of days later. Improvements that can be incorporated quickly, will be; those that are more complicated or in-depth may have to wait for version 1.2. In any case, the entire staff of STC will be working hard during this phase so we can evaluate/incorporate feedback and open the doors to the public.

The staff, the Board, and I greatly value all your constructive comments. After all, we want My STC to become “your” STC—an STC you visit regularly.
