STC Office Closed Monday Due to Power Outage

A major storm swept through the Washington, DC, area on Friday night, leaving over one million customers in the MD/DC/VA area without power. Many still have no power; the STC office in Fairfax, VA, is one of those customers.

As such, the office will be closed on Monday, 2 July, pending restoration of electricity, phones, and the Internet. In addition, our database server is onsite, which means that MySTC will not be operational until power is restored. There may also be problems accessing STC.org as well, even though that server is offsite.

Finally, most STC employees live in areas that were hit by the storm, and some still do not have power. Those that do have power have email access, but please be patient in the next few days as response times may be delayed. Some customers are being told it might be as long as a week before power is restored.

We’ll continue to update the situation here on STC’s Notebook and on Twitter.

  1. Oh, yeah, been there, done that. I know how the weather affects the DC, Baltimore, Virginia corridor. I lived through the worst winter of 1993-94 when the friends of Edgar Allen Poe placed a white rose on his grave. Seriously, It was the only time it wasn’t a red rose. It was that cold!
Rolling blackouts because of the energy shortage caused our townhouse to register in the 50s indoors. Whatever doesn’t kill you will make you stronger!
Please send those rainclouds to Colorado.

I am registered for TechComm 101, which starts today, and I have not received any information on how to access the class.

Please send the link asap as the class is starting NOW.
