On Tuesday, 6 August, from 10:00-11:00 AM EDT (GMT-4), Bonnie J. Davis presents the live Web seminar Contact Work: Mindset, Market, and Money. Below we share a guest blog post from Bonnie giving some insight into the webinar.
The market is good. The money is good. Are you good for contract work? If you value benefits such as autonomy, flexibility, and entrepreneurial expression, contract work may be just what you need.
It has been a perfect fit for me. I’ve worked as a contractor for more than 20 years—first as a technical writer, then a Help developer, and now as an instructional designer. I’d say that’s a career. In addition to working as a contractor, I have also placed contractors on projects. I’ve seen contractors come and go and I’ve seen them make the same mistakes over and over again. I know contract work from all angles.
Whether you are new to contract work, seriously considering it, or just curious about it, this should be an enlightening session. It may serve as a kick-start to a new direction in your career.
I will discuss core considerations for contract work:
- Contractor’s mindset
- Market for services offered
- Money that contractors can earn
Now that I am at the “reflecting” stage of my career, I want to share what I have learned about contract work—including my competitive advantage secrets. My goal is two-fold: (1) to help new contractors get off to a good start and (2) to enhance experiences of persons already working as contractors.
This presentation is an excerpt from my one-day workshop that will launch in September.
