Reminder: Fellow and Associate Fellow Deadlines are 15 October

The deadline to nominate yourself or another STC member for Associate Fellow or to apply for Fellow honors is approaching. Members have until Tuesday, 15 October, to complete the information packages for both.

To be considered for selection as an Associate Fellow, the nominee must have been active in the field of technical communication for at least 15 years and have been a member of the Society for at least 10 years, as of the application submission deadline. They must also be members in good standing at the time of the application and at the time of the honors banquet the following May. But, most importantly, the nominee must have significant accomplishments one or more of the following areas: (1) performed important work and attained distinction in the field of technical communication, (2) done notable original work that has contributed to the advancement of the field, or (3) made significant contributions to the Society and helped to tell STC’s powerful story.

You must have been inducted as an Associate Fellow at the 2011 Summit or prior to be eligible for Fellow status. To be considered for elevation to the rank of STC Fellow you must have accomplished all of the following: (1) performed important work and attained distinction in the field of technical communication; (2) done notable original work that has contributed to the advancement of the field; and (3) made significant contributions to STC and helped to tell STC’s powerful story. Length of career, quality of accomplishments, service to the Society, and continuity of achievement are all factors in the selection process.
