Weather Update for STC Headquarters Next Week

As Hurricane Sandy moves up the East Coast of the United States toward Stately STC Manor in Fairfax, VA, and a nor’easter approaches from the other direction, we’re keeping an eye on weather reports for early next week. Predictions, per the usual, vary depending on the time and person doing the reporting, but with a nickname like “Frankenstorm” being used, it may wind up being serious.

We’ll keep members updated on the website, STC’s Notebook, and Twitter as to any office closings or cancellations due to the storm—including any postponements for scheduled live Web seminars. All STC staffers are equipped to telecommute and access email if necessary, but that of course depends on their home situation, too.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

UPDATE: The STC office will be closed on Monday as a precautionary measure and all staff will be working from home (pending power). In the event that we suffer widespread power outages in the area, some or all staffers may be unavailable. Further, since the server for our association management software is hosted in our building, a long-term power outage at the office means that anything that authenticates against our server (website logins, MySTC, chapter logins on sites that use our authentication, publications, and the online membership application) will not be working. We hope this won’t be an issue, but wanted you to know ahead of time. We’re hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
