Cultivating a Legacy

The STC Nominating Committee is responsible for seeking out thought leaders and industry front-runners, considering them for leadership positions, and bringing a robust candidate slate into the membership spotlight. Straightforward as it may seem, this is no easy task.

As times change and the future unfolds, the STC leadership team must continue to meet the needs of our international membership. The ever-evolving field of technical communication calls for new approaches to mentoring and professional development, and we need to cultivate an STC leadership team that can lead us through this constant evolution.

Your votes and voice in the leadership election process matter, and your support of each and every one of the current slated candidates is important to the future of the STC. The Nominating Committee has done a fantastic job of bringing these candidates to the election, and encouraging involvement in the STC election process overall.

As an active STC member for over 15 years, I have felt the pulse of this organization as if it were a beating heart, and watched as we have continuously shown ourselves to be an unparalleled resource in the technical communication industry. We accomplished this through a legacy of STC leaders who have shared their insight and expertise, and sought out ways to provide maximum benefit to our association membership. We need to continue this legacy into the future.

As STC makes a commitment to reaching across every industry and continent to enrich available member resources, I make a commitment to reach as far and wide to find the best candidates for the next generation of STC leaders, through every network and association I have. I will search across the globe, in my home town, in industry and academia. I know how important this legacy of leadership is. I feel that heartbeat.

The Nominating Committee looks to our membership for potential leaders who understand the industry and the workings of STC as an organization as well as a business. As we move forward, I ask you to connect with your own potential, reflect on the role that STC plays in the future of the technical communication industry, share your own vision of the future, and find your place in the STC legacy of leadership.
