Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer in the United States, and here at Stately STC Manor it’s a big summer for a few of the staff members! Lots of Big Life Events (BLEs) taking place, so we thought we’d fill you in and let you get to know the staff a bit more.
First up is membership manager Julia O’Connor. Julia hasn’t been liking the heat in the DC area these past few days … because she’s about nine and a half months pregnant! Julia’s due date is 14 June (only a couple weeks!) so throw some good wishes her way as she prepares to become a first-time mommy. While she’s at the point now that she just wants the baby out of her, she’s hoping for any day but 12 June; that’s the day of the U.S.-England match in the World Cup and not only does she want to watch it, but she’s also worried that her husband might get distracted from the joy of childbirth if the two competed.
Julia’s not the only mom-to-be in the office, either! Our staff accountant Marta Sokol is also expecting her first, with a bouncing baby boy due on 20 August to her and her husband. While we’ve had a baby shower for Julia already, Marta’s is still in the planning stages, so if you have any techcomm-related shower games to suggest, post a comment.
And while she’s not With Child, membership development manager Stacey O’Donnell and her husband are also expecting an addition to the family. Last summer Stacey hosted a lovely young lady from Colombia and is in the midst of formally adopting her! There’s mounds of paperwork involved, but Stacey hopes to officially have a new thirteen-year-old daughter later this year.
One last BLE to mention! As of 31 July, there will be a Mrs. Friendly Neighborhood Blogger, as yours truly takes the big plunge and is getting married. To answer the question on your mind: Yes, she knows what she’s getting into. And she still said yes. That will be followed by a week in Costa Rica, so if anyone has any suggestions (we’ll be staying on the Pacific side, at the Paradisus Playa Conchal), please pass them along!
Congratulations to Julia, Marta, and Stacey on the upcoming family additions! And good luck to the soon-to-be Mrs; she might need it!
Best wishes to everyone!
Wow! That’s a lot of BLEs! Congratulations and best wishes to all!
Congratulations to you all! I think it’s time to start pushing the boss for family outings 8^)
Congratulations to everyone!!
Kevin – may I suggest going to the Monteverde Cloud Forest? It’s quite a ride up there (2-plus hours), and VERY BUMPY the last 20 miles (at least our tour’s was). But it’s gorgeous – the scenery on the way up, and being in the cloud forest. Take the canopy walk that takes you over the 8 suspension bridges. And bring a rain coat!
Congratulations to you all!
Kevin,
I expect full reports posted to STC Notebook while you’re away in Costa Rica. Might as we’ll add some video, too!
Seriously, how does anyone get any work done with all that elation? Congrats and kudos. Please pass the chips.
Ole!
Thanks everyone!
Kevin, nice article. 🙂
Congratulations to all of you experiencing these big events. My wife and I are adopting a baby girl ourselves (became official this week), and we’re ecstatic. 😀 Great to know that the good times are being spread around in STC.
Congratulations to everyone! What an exciting time to be an STC staff member 🙂
