Community Achievement Award Applications Due 23 January

By Nicky Bleiel | Senior Member

STC Chapters, SIGs, and Student Chapters are all encouraged to apply for the Community Achievement Awards, which honor the outstanding accomplishments of STC Communities. There are three levels of recognition: Merit, Excellence, and Distinction. The CAAs will be presented at the 2012 STC Summit in Rosemont, IL. Two of the outstanding CAA honorees will also be awarded “Most Improved Community” and “Community of the Year.”

The applications include only minor changes, so if your community planning was based on the 2010 application, you will be in line with the CAA requirements. The change of note is that to be eligible for the CAA, standard STC reporting requirements must be met. Geographic and student chapters must have submitted a budget, annual financial report, and tax filings, while SIGs must have submitted a budget.

The 2011 application can also be used for 2012 planning, as it includes information about the major initiative for 2012: updating chapter bylaws.

The 2011 Community Achievement Award Guidelines and applications are available on the STC website at www.stc.org/membership/recognition/awards/1221-community-achievement-award.

Applications and supporting materials should be emailed to Steve Skojec (steve.skojec@stc.org), director of community relations, and Tom Barnett (tom.barnett99@gmail.com), Community Achievement Award chair.
