The Technical Communication Summit, STC’s 59th Annual Conference, offers extraordinary opportunities for in-depth exploration of hot topics in technical communication. The certificate courses, held just prior to the Summit, continue to be extremely popular with attendees. Combined with the variety of learning experiences offered by the regular conference education sessions, the certificate programs give technical communicators the knowledge they need to stay on top of trends in a constantly evolving profession.
Workshops are another, shorter, preconference learning opportunity, with four courses to choose from.

Certificate Programs
Attendees who participate in the preconference certificate programs are exposed to the broad range of thinking and issues within a subject area. Participants who complete a program earn a certificate of attendance.
The certificate programs relate to scheduled Summit education sessions and are meant to be a further examination of aspects of the topic area. Session instructors will also recommend regular conference sessions to complement the certificate sessions (attendance at these sessions is not required for the certificate, but recommended for a more complete understanding of the topic).
This year, the certificate programs will be held Saturday, 19 May, and Sunday, 20 May, from 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM. Attendees can choose from the following certificate programs:
Content Strategy and Content Management, presented by Karen McGrane and Jeff Eaton
Data Visualization: Seeing Through the Numbers, presented by Phylise Banner
Technical Communication 101, presented by Leah Guren
Technical Editing Fundamentals, presented by Michelle Corbin and Linda Oestreich
Preconference Workshops
For those desiring an additional, but shorter, preconference learning experience, STC will offer four half-day preconference workshops.
Sunday, 21 May, 1:00–5:00 PM
Building and Managing Successful Teams, presented by Alyssa Fox and Paul Mueller
Developing User Assistance for Mobile Apps, presented by Joe Welinske
HTML5 Design & Development, presented by Peter Lubbers
