Partnerships for Professionalism: Collaboration, Diversity, and Technology in Academia and Industry

By Sally Henschel | Senior Member

The STC Academic SIG, in cooperation with the Council for Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication (CPTSC), invites you to join us for a one-day Partnership Preconference on Thursday, 27 September 2012, the day before the annual CPTSC conference being hosted at Michigan Tech University in Houghton, MI.

The preconference theme, Partnerships for Professionalism: Collaboration, Diversity, and Technology in Academia and Industry, reflects our SIG’s main objectives: to bridge academic and industry interests and foster conversation between practitioners and educators. This year, we plan to incorporate many of the successful elements and suggestions from our first preconference last fall, including keynote speakers, the hybrid-virtual model for presenters, and additional time for sessions, breaks, and side conversations between participants. Panel presentations will include the following topics:

  • Intercultural communication, collaboration and diversity
  • Pedagogy, elearning and continuing education
  • Collaborative technologies and applications
  • Research, academic and industry partnerships

There is no cost for attending the preconference. Program and registration will be available in August on the Academic SIG website, www.stc-academic.org.

We look forward to your joining us in Houghton this September.
