Work has begun on the education program for the 2013 Technical Communication Summit. The Summit will be held 5–8 May 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia. The program advisory committee has selected track managers and proposal reviewers, and the program team has reviewed outstanding feedback and suggestions from the 2012 Summit. We plan to provide valuable sessions in the following areas:
- Content strategy and design
- Content development and delivery
- Web design and development
- People, project, and business management
- User experience and accessibility
- Education and training
- Professional development
The Summit will include visual design, social media, and academic/research topics across these listed areas to provide a comprehensive program for technical communicators in many industries. The program will also continue to include a wide variety of presentation formats, from demonstrations and workshops to lightning talks and progression discussions, so attendees can explore topics in the ways that are best for them.
The Summit management team will visit the Atlanta site in August to finalize our space arrangements and various onsite details. “We expect to open the Call for Proposals in late July or early August this year,” stated STC Summit Chairperson Paul Mueller. “The Call for Proposals is open until 10 September, and the program team will finalize selections by late October. Registration for the Summit should be available by early December.”
Submissions for the Call for Proposals will be accepted through the online system. STC announced the Call for Proposals to all members via email and on the STC website. See www.stc.org for a banner announcing the Call for Proposals. For more information about the Summit, be sure to watch #stc13 on Twitter and the Summit website at http://summit.stc.org.
