In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower was president, the first Corvette rolled off the production line, TV Guide was first published … and the Society for Technical Communication was formed.
A lot has happened in 60 years since then! Even the profession of technical communication has transformed and continues to change the way we work in this constantly dynamic field. To mark six decades of the Society, we will be celebrating the occasion in style.
At the annual STC Summit in Atlanta, every attendee will receive a commemorative 60th Anniversary Pin. Make sure to get yours and wear it during the conference! Our thanks to WebWorks for sponsoring this item for our members.
Also, during the Opening General Session on Sunday, 5 May, at 5:30 PM, we will recognize longtime members who have been with the Society for longer than 30 years (note: see article on pages 20–22 for an interview with some of them). You may notice some of them as your colleagues, former STC leaders, and STC Fellows. Did you know our longest-time member has been with STC since 1959?
And finally, join us on Monday night at the Summit for the 60th Anniversary Celebration Party, with music by The Rough Drafts and karaoke courtesy of the Atlanta Chapter.
Stay tuned for more 60th Anniversary Celebration news as we get closer to the Summit.
Sincerely,
STC 60th Anniversary Task Force

Who is that oldest member? About the only names I recognize anymore (in this issue) is Bill Leavitt and Michael Opsteegh (who I just met about a year ago).
