Just Announced: STC’s 2017 Summit Opening Keynote

STC is pleased to announce Seth Mattison as the opening keynote speaker for the 2017 Summit! Mattison is a trend spotter, workforce strategist, and a management renegade speaker who is striving to make the world of work more humane, empowering, and engaging.  His mantra, “We go ALL in,” drives his mission to help facilitate a shift in consciousness around what work and leadership will mean in the 21st century, and the role individuals can play in intentionally creating careers and companies that bring deep value to the world.

Last week, STC’s membership department gave away a $30 Amazon gift card to those who joined or renewed for 2017. Dozens of memberships were activated in response to the contest, and we’d like to congratulate the winners of the drawing!

Plan Ahead to Attend the 2017 Summit

Now’s the time to start making your plans to attend the premier technical communication conference, the 2017 Summit, 7-10 May. The Summit will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in picturesque National Harbor, MD, just minutes outside of downtown Washington, DC.

A Message from STC’s Board of Directors

It is with a mixture of sadness and gratitude that the Board of Directors announces Chris Lyons’s resignation from his position as CEO of STC. Under Chris’s leadership, STC has seen many successes, including the successful rebuilding and launching of STC’s Professional Certification Program; improving the quality, venue, and performance of STC’s annual meetings; and improving many business operations, which has resulted in a financially stronger organization. The Board thanks Chris for his dedication and service. We will miss his leadership and wish him the best in his new position.

Using the Power of FrameMaker to Get Back to Writing

Don’t miss this new and exciting online course to learn how to Own Your Content: Using the Power of FrameMaker to Get Back to Writing for all technical communicators with Matt Sullivan. This is a six-week course starting Thursday, 30 June-11 August at 11:30 AM-12:30 PM EDT (GMT-4). The 30 June date is an introductory session, and the first session begins on 7 July. Attendees can expect about three hours of work, each balanced roughly between course materials, projects, and live sessions. The live sessions are scheduled on Thursdays and Matt will also hold online “office hours” on Tuesdays, giving attendees a chance to drop into an online meeting to discuss the current week’s assignment.
