Watch the Keynote Speech from the 2014 Summit

We wanted to share his talk (“Wicked Ambiguity”) with everyone, so we’ve embedded the video of his talk as well as his slides from SlideShare below. Unfortunately we don’t have them synched, but you should be able to follow along relatively easily by advancing the slides yourself as you watch the video. Enjoy!

At the Summit: Looking Forward to Columbus

As was announced previously and highlighted in Phoenix, the 2015 Summit will be at the Hyatt Regency Columbus in Columbus, Ohio, from 21-24 June. To get attendees excited about Columbus we had a “quiz show” at the Closing Lunch at the Summit, hosted by Your Friendly Neighborhood Blogger (doing his best Wink Martindale impression). The questions are below; take the quiz and find out how well you know Columbus! Feel free to post your score in the comments section, then make your plans to join us for another great STC conference next year in Ohio.

At the Summit: Photos, Get Yer Photos Here!

STC owns the rights to all the photos taken by the official Summit photographer, Phoenix Chapter member Miachelle DiPiano. As such, members and communities are invited to use the photographs as desired on websites, newsletters, emails, etc. You can access Miachelle’s photos on the STC Flickr site.

At the Summit: A Student Feels At Home

Arriving in Phoenix as a student volunteer for the second time was less intimidating than my first go in Atlanta. For one, I knew what to expect. STC members embrace students, welcoming us into the fold. People are actually excited and thankful we are here. They want to share their wealth of information with us. They want us to succeed. Also, I meet other students from around the country, establishing long-lasting relationships among future colleagues early on in our budding careers. The Summit is an amazing gathering of people who take care of one another and the people that will follow in their footsteps.

Summit ’14: Highlighting the Education/Academic and Research Track

The Program Committee for this year’s STC Summit kept educators and students in mind as we reviewed proposals.  We identified sessions that may be of interest to educators and students, including research projects, skill topics, and trends that might directly affect the teaching strategies of those who prepare students for the field of technical communication.
