Upcoming Webinar on 22 April: Collaborative Single-Source Development of Documentation and Training

Training and documentation are often seen as separate and different creatures and teams are often in silos competing for scarce resources. They are, in reality, siblings that can produce amazing results if they work together. Find out how with R. N. Homer Christensen and the live Web seminar Collaborative Single-Source Development of Documentation and Training, taking place Tuesday, 22 April, from 10:00-11:00 AM EDT (GMT-4).

The Collaborative Single-Source Development Approach (CSSDA) Christensen developed for his company's project allowed them to save approximately 20% in upfront development hours, but promises to save the client additional time and effort on updating all materials by using one set of files. In this webinar, you will learn how to:

  • Get team, client, and management buy-in
  • Develop a sharing strategy
  • Set up your project
  • Assign work to the right team members

Although the presenter used MadCap Software Flare and Contributor, you could adapt this workflow to other tools. Using a single-source methodology allowed his company to quickly produce multiple outputs, such as related job aids, with minimal effort, and customize training materials for specific audiences with fewer team members. One of the unintended consequences they discovered was the happy result of a more unified, flexible, and collaborative team who could step in to assist others as individual workloads lightened or increased.
