STC’s Education Offerings Attracting International Participants

STC has been making an effort to provide more for our international members, and they’re taking advantage of it! The Technical Communication Manager certificate course begins 27 October, and 49 individuals have already registered for the course—including several from outside the United States. Despite the time difference, with sessions beginning at 10:30 AM EDT (GMT-4), members from India, Iceland, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Sweden, and on the west coast of Canada have committed to the six-session course.

STC has other educational offerings that transcend the time zone difference as well. STC's SUMMIT@aClick is the captured content of the 2009 Technical Communication Summit in Atlanta, GA, and contains the audio and visual portions of sessions. And registration for the 2010 Summit will include free access to SUMMIT@aClick for its sessions too. STC’s Summit is the only meeting in the technical communications field that offers the ability to attend the conference sessions without having to travel.

Sally Billington of the New Zealand Chapter wrote to express her appreciation of SUMMIT@aClick as an international member: “As an STC Member from Down Under with little likelihood of attending in person, I have found a second best is to have access to the STC Live Learning Center. Here I have been able to look and learn from the sessions almost as if I were present—handouts come alive when supported by voice or video.”

STC also recently debuted the 24/7 Archived Seminars, a growing collection of content from recently presented live web seminars. Both the 24/7 Archived Seminars and SUMMIT@aClick are located in the Live Learning Center on the STC website and are available whenever you want them, wherever you are.
