The 2013 membership season opened on 1 October, and we're already seeing plenty of renewals as well as a number of new members! Your Friendly Neighborhood Blogger looked through the names and picked a few people to talk to about their membership and why they're a part of STC. Before this year, it appears you were previously an STC member from 1994 through 2002. Is that correct? What do you remember of STC from your previous membership?
Correct. I remember the monthly local chapter meetings and the publications.
What is it that brought you back to STC now, 10 years later?
I think my technical communication skills have become outdated, and I know STC provides access to education and other useful information, so I rejoined for that.
What are you most hoping to get out of your membership this year?
Ultimately, a new job.
I know you probably haven't had much time to look around yet, but is there anything that immediately strikes you as different about the organization?
After 10 years, the STC website with online access to the STC publications Intercom and Technical Communication, webinars, and virtual conferences are all new.
