We are excited to announce that the 2013-2014 Society for Technical Communication (STC) Greater New York Metro, Philadelphia Metro, and Houston Regional Tech Comm Competition is now open for entries and judges!
If you or your company published or substantially revised great procedural, support, or promotional content within 24 months before this coming 1 September, then this may be your winning year!
The Regional Tech Comm Competition provides a showcase to help our regional chapters encourage the arts and sciences of technical communication. You can participate by submitting an entry, or by applying to judge the competition.
Call for Entries
For those who submit entries, the many benefits include:
- Detailed evaluations from judges; objective peer evaluation that supports continuous improvement
- Method validation and earned visibility
- Awards and tangible recognition of achievement for winners

The competition is open to anyone, student or professional, who produces technical communication, training material, or content for the Web and other devices. You may enter work as a team, an individual, or on behalf of a colleague.
Call for Judges
For those who volunteer to judge competition entries, benefits include:
- Viewing the latest trends in technical communication, instructional design, promotional, informational, and user support materials
- Exposure to new ideas
- Opportunity to discuss content development and design with professional peers

The competition needs judges with good experience in technical writing, learning design, editing, or developing documentation or marketing communications. Those adept at technical illustrations, video editing, posters, or packaging will also see great examples of work from other professionals.
We provide extensive training for judges. More experienced judges will serve as team leaders and guide you through assessments.
Deadlines
The deadline for submitting entries is Thursday, 17 October 2013, at 3:00 PM EDT (GMT-4). The deadline to apply to judge the competition is Monday, 30 September 2013.
STC membership is not required to submit entries or judge. You also don't have to belong to the STC New York Metro, Philadelphia Metro, or Houston chapters.
