This entry is being posted on behalf of Jessie Mallory, candidate for Director in the 2017 STC election. More information about Jessie can be found on her STC election page.
My name is Jessie Mallory and I’m asking for your vote for the STC Director Position.
I have served STC in multiple leadership roles, including most recently, the President of the Philadelphia Metro Chapter, the social media coordinator for the TCBOK Task Force, and as an STC Mentor. While I was President, my team won the Platinum Community Achievement Award and we started a student scholarship that gives free STC PMC membership to 10 students a year.
So why am I running?
As a Director, it would be my responsibility to be the link between you and the Board. This means that my number one role would be communication. I got my start in technical writing, and now, as a project manager, my job is to take the needs of my teams (you and the Board) and find solutions for those needs. My first step as Director would be to talk to you, the people who make up STC, and find out what you think we could be doing better.
Student membership has always been a primary focus for me. The future of STC depends on grooming and educating the younger generation to eventually step into our shoes. We need to build this group and help make students an active part of our membership. It’s also important to expand our relationships with academic, professional, and industry organizations to broaden our base, share our message, and to find more opportunities for our members. Given the chance I will apply my experience and efforts to making STC successful – I do this because STC in turn makes us successful.
After I graduated with a Professional and Technical Writing degree, I began my career as a Technical Writer for the Oracle Corporation. I worked as a technical writer for several years before moving to senior technical writer and currently I am a project manager at Nuix where I oversee all cybersecurity software products and partner integrations. As a project manager, I work with multiple international teams, manage million dollar budgets, and communicate with people from every level: CEO to team member to external client.
I’m asking for your vote so I can have the opportunity to work for you, to take your needs and make them a reality.
I’d love to hear from you. Let’s connect via LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessiemallory) or Twitter (@jessiejmallory).
Thank you for your nomination and your consideration.
