Presenting the 2021 Class of Associate Fellows
The Society for Technical Communication is proud to announce the 2021 class of Associate Fellows. Associate Fellow is one of the three honorary ranks in the Society. It is the second highest rank that the Society can confer upon a member, Fellow being the highest. This honor recognizes members for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the arts and science of technical communication, and for sustained and significant service to STC. Associate Fellows retain this honorary rank for life, unless they are elevated to the rank of Fellow. To be considered for Associate Fellow, a candidate must have:
  • Been active in technical communication for at least 15 years
  • Fulfilled ten years of service as an STC Member (with at least five years at the level of Senior Member), as of the application submission deadline.
The Society will formally recognize the new Associate Fellows at the 2021 Summit.   Congratulations to our newest Associate Fellows:   Alisa Bonsignore For building professional development resources that advance communicators’ careers; for developing long-term strategic programs for STC; and for drawing attention to how effective communication can benefit organizations and society. Jamie Gillenwater For contributions and commitment to the STC certification program, which provides technical communicators with opportunities for growth and elevates the profession. Debra Johnson For significant contributions to, promotion of, and innovation in the profession; love for its practitioners and students; and distinguished service as an STC and industry leader. Wendy Ross For helping others develop professionally; for outstanding leadership of the STC Rochester chapter; and for pioneering work in diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Society for Technical Communication and other organizations. Yoel Strimling For improving documentation through his empirically based feedback model, and for providing the STC Technical Editing SIG with a platform for robust and intellectually rigorous information exchange. Jane Wilson For her persistent promotion of the value of technical communication; for commitment to continuous improvement of teams and processes; and for her service as an STC leader.
