More on Last Week’s Content Strategy Forum 2010

In last week's Links of Interest I linked to a Huffington Post article about the Content Strategy Forum 2010. I wanted to draw a bit more attention to this great conference, co-sponsored by the France and TransAlpine chapters of STC.

Taking place 15-16 April in Paris, the Content Strategy Forum included (according to its website), “170 attendees, 18 nationalities, 17 speakers, 1 panel discussion, 1 dinner cruise, 1 cocktail, 1 volcano.”

One of the keynote speakers, Rahel Anne Bailie, was especially effusive in her praise in an email she sent the STC office. “I had the privilege of being a keynote speaker at this conference, and am excited and impressed by the vibrancy and knowledge of the group that attended. I’m looking forward to more CS in coming years!”

CJ Walker of the TransAlpine Chapter gave the organizers high marks in another email.

It was wonderful to be a part of the organisation of this amazing event.

It’s not a surprise that it was so successful, given the synergy behind the talented group of European leadership. I can honestly say I’ve never worked with such a professionally inspiring group—with so much on the ball—who can have so much fun doing it!

Destry [Wion, of STC France] had the vision to identify the right people to contact to present. The result speaks for itself.

Attendees tweeted to hashtag #CSforum10, so check out the tweets for a taste of the conference!

  1. The CS Forum 10 was indeed a great event! Kudos to the entire organizing committee. A special thank you should go to the volunteers who were on hand manning stations and tasks during the event itself. Without those people the two days would not have run as smooth as it did, like clockwork!

For easy reference, you can find the presentations in the following SlideShare Event (we need three more and the set will be complete, workshops not included)…

We also have a Flickr group for the event too, and expect to see more photos added here over time as attendees become aware of the location…

At least one attendee captured a session independently on video and put that on Vimeo…

Lastly, there will be our own audio and video files to get online, which could be on either Vimeo, YouTube or Flickr, but which we’ll announce on Twitter (@stcfrance) when the time comes. We will also be publishing a article at http://stcfrance.org, a kind of post “proceedings” article that will centralize link resources to respective session abstracts.

I would like to point out one final thing about the collaboration on this event between two European chapters, pulling off a sold out, 170-attendee conference. This should be looked at as inspiration—encouragement even—for European chapters to do this again (yes, I have stake in Europe). I would even go so far to propose that European chapters collaborate on an annual European STC conference, perhaps instead of individual efforts, with the event taking place in a different European city each year. There is so much to gain by doing this, and an extraordinary amount of opportunity for participants too. Chapter leaders should start discussing this. (As well the TC competitions in Europe, which seem to have disappeared and could be made a part of an annual Europe event.)
