Upcoming Webinar on 21 March: InDesign for Technical Communicators

On Thursday, 21 March, from 4:00-5:00 PM EDT (GMT-4), Jamie Gillenwater presents the live Web seminar InDesign for Technical Communicators. Below is a blog post from her talking about the topic.

I entered the field of technical communication with a background in graphic design, so the Adobe Creative Suite was my tool kit. InDesign was, and still is, my best friend when creating an information document. Whether it is long or short, for print or web, I gravitate toward InDesign.

When I was told to choose a tool for creating my company’s technical manuals, the choice was easy: InDesign, Adobe’s popular desktop publishing tool. And through the years, I have found many great features that allow me to enhance my technical manuals from boring PDFs to interactive documents and apps!

In my webinar on 21 March, I will demonstrate features, tips, and tricks I have learned over the years. You will learn how to save time with these styles as you use them throughout documents in your company’s manuals and technical content. You will also look at how to add video, create conditional text, and use advanced export options.

To get started, take a look at how to create paragraph styles, which you can then sync between documents and assign to templates. The easiest way to create a new paragraph style is to set up your text with the attributes you want to include in the style. The video linked below demonstrates how to create heading and body text styles.

I look forward to sharing my experiences and InDesign’s best features with you. To register for the webinar, please sign up here
