Today, demonstration videos are extremely common, especially in the realm of software documentation. Due to the popularity and effectiveness of this medium, many screen capture applications, with varied costs and benefits, are now available. This demonstration examines two of the applications most commonly used for screen capture: Adobe Captivate and TechSmith Camtasia.

In order to determine which software solution is best for your needs, you will need to outline your goals and consider numerous factors pertaining to your audience and your content. This presentation will evaluate these factors in regard to each application’s abilities and deficiencies. Main topics of the presentation include “Knowing Your Audience,” “Evaluating Your Content,” and “Choosing a Level of Interaction.” Within each of these topics, we will discuss the questions you will need to ask within your organization in order to help you choose software that makes your content accessible to your ideal audience.
