Optimal Use of Microsoft Word for Web Publishing

This webinar focuses on advanced techniques to make the most out of MS Word in the context of web publishing. Throughout many organizations, Word is the preferred drafting platform. Many organizations feel that XML is sometimes too burdensome or an overreach considering their needs. See how Word can be a near-free solution to achieve your objectives and see how Zoupio (SaaS) can propel that Word file to the next web level (hosted and mobile-ready responsive design).

Lexum recognizes that you need to work with what’s available and for many, this mean starting with a Word file. Learn how to improve this source file instead of trying to clean it down the chain. We’ll show you how to avoid manual formatting and use the advanced features of MS word to your benefit. In particular, we will go deep into the use of Word styles (formatting, cascading, ordering them, and linked styles) and address how they can be used for automatic conversion to web formats, for metadata extraction, and even to produce accessible files (WCAG/ADA compliance). We’ll also spend time on how to use templates (.dot files) to enforce best practices within your organization, how to use keyboard shortcuts to save time, and how section breaks can help you manage even the most complex documents. All this, with the final objective of getting this content online!

By the end of the webinar, you should have learned how to speed up the processing of text-heavy documents and how to produce cleaner MS Word files. We’ll show you how to automate web publishing from those Word files as well as the general best practices of web publishing for text-heavy documents.

This webinar is a presentation from Lexum Inc., a 20 year veteran of legal information publishing on the Internet.
